The Tarbell Fellowship is a prestigious one-year program designed for early-career journalists who want to specialize in covering the technical, ethical, and societal impacts of Artificial Intelligence. The fellowship aims to foster high-quality, rigorous reporting on one of the most transformative technologies of our time.
Fellowship Highlights
- Newsroom Placement: Fellows spend 9 months embedded in major newsrooms such as The Guardian, MIT Technology Review, or Bloomberg.
- Expert Training: Includes a multi-week "AI Fundamentals" course to ensure fellows understand the technical side of machine learning.
- Global Summit: Fellows attend an all-expenses-paid summit in the San Francisco Bay Area to meet with AI researchers and top tech editors.
Financial Support
This is a fully funded fellowship. It provides a stipend of up to $50,000 USD (depending on location and experience) to cover living costs for the duration of the placement. Travel and accommodation for the summit are also fully covered.
